In this edition we celebrate the launch of 📣 DesignUp Local Communities 📣, continuing the conversation across cities and throughout the year. From DesignUp Conference 2022, this eye-opening talk by Rahul Matthan called Privacy by Design was a big hit!

Last week, we lost Balkrishna Doshi, India’s most visionary architect, whose timeless inspiration lives on in his creations around the country. Around the web, Apple’s Lisa Computer turned 40, a useful guide to designing your portfolio, and super handy tips for dealing with a layoff. Privacy by Design by Rahul Matthan was (unsurprisingly) a big hit at DesignUp Conference 2022. In just 20 mins, Rahul explores expansive topics like surveillance capitalism, data regulation, and the fundamental right to privacy - which, by the way, wasn't even recognised by the Constitution of India as a fundamental right till 2017!

So, how can we include privacy by design (and not by regulation) in the products and services we build?

The Apple Lisa computer turns 40 this year! Without the Lisa, there would have been no Macintosh and perhaps even no Microsoft Windows either.

Announcing DesignUp Local Communities - an initiative to host local, city-centric events and conversations. The focus would be to engage closely with practitioners, students, and stakeholders across cities - and keep the conversations going across the year, beyond our annual flagship conference.
