Around two months ago, DesignUp launched its brand new, ground-up, in-house designed and developed platform called Lumos - with a host of features including referrals, exchanges and more, apart from buying tickets! We're thrilled to announce that you can now refer your friends and colleagues for DesignUp 2024 Conference Passes 🎉

Priority Pass members, refer friends and pocket a cool Rs 200 for each successful referral. What’s more - the people you refer get a Rs 300 welcome bonus! That's right, this is a jumpup from the Rs 150/250 we originally promised. Even better news? This isn't just for Priority Pass holders. We're opening up Referrals to all ticket holders. Refer as many people as you want and gift them Rs 300 each, with no cap on number of referrals.

🌏️ Around the Web

If you’ve been charmed by the cute illustrations on Swiggy, you’ll be familiar with the work of Shivam Thapliyal. Shivam was also a speaker at DesignUp Conference back in 2022 “Product Illustration Today”!

In this issue, Shivam shares some of his side projects, inspirations, useful resources, and more!

“A few months back I took a break away from the city and went for a few days on a snowboarding expedition in the Sethan, Himachal, a little away from Manali. Four days with no network, or electricity, with only a few people seen around, and 8 dogs at our cottage, it was an adventure of a lifetime. I also shot a small Cinematic film that you can watch!

I’ve recently been inspired by the Vibrant and Pure Cookbook, a visual delight for all food enthusiasts and designers to create some food and plate it as an art. While eating healthy is a goal I wish to sustain for very long, plating and making it look pretty is the best part!

I’ve started to learn motion design and if you want to see the process, check out Motionographer Behind the Scenes for project breakdowns and how various studios/designers approach a project.

Pssh!! Here’s my favourite one - it’s an animation design timelapse of Xoana Herrera and Esteban Esquivos’ process which will give you some great insights:

I recently stumbled upon illustrator Ping Zhu’s lecture where she talks about her work, and career and so many helpful tips. It’s a 1:30 hour long video so you’ll be learning a lot in detail. Grab a notebook for sure.

If you love pixel art and animations, then Studio Mini Boss’ Pixel art tutorials is the most comprehensive, to-the-point and useful resource for pixel art animation reference. It’s a very detailed and exhaustive list that you’d ever find.

🎙️ AltCwithJD: A Podcast on a Mission

In AltC's Season 1, Episode 1, we have Jayanth Sharma, an award-winning photographer, founder & CEO of Toehold Travel & Photography and Sony Alpha ambassador. Jayanth started his professional journey as an engineer before pursuing wildlife photography. In this podcast, we discuss if passion can make a profit and what it takes to survive in the wild wild world of business, amongst other things.
