DesignUp πŸ”₯ Issue #98 > Covid Resources: Give and get help + OpenHour

This is an out-of-turn issue! Given the devastating Covid 2nd Wave that India is going through πŸ’” it made sense to rush and bring you something useful and actionable. Now.

This is that one consolidated list of where 🀞you can get help (tools/dashboards for plasma, oxygen, beds) as well places 🀝 you can give help (volunteer time, donate money). In these times of "self-reliance", we are sure the community will rise and contribute generously! πŸ‘‡ We've also compiled a list of causes that are for marginalized communities, needs urgent help and not well publicized or funded.

πŸ‘‹ DesignUp has also launching OpenHour in a beta mode - a bi-weekly open small group conversation format. Given the outrage, grief, anxiety, anger and helplessness - we thought of providing a platform where the community could get together, discuss, share, support and listen. More details below.

Let's start with the list of lists πŸ‘‡

🧯 List of Lists: Oxygen, Food, Hospital, Beds & More

The Indian start-up community is coming together to create a list of some key fundraisers as well as tools. Super useful if you're short on time and need to focus on a few.

The most diverse and extensive list, "this document is maintained by an informal group as a way of curating opportunities to support COVID-related mutual aid work in India." From Kashmir to Kanchipuram, vulnerable sections like disabled women to kids - this list is very varied...

A clearly classified set of fundraisers, including state Governments - but importantly it has a neat set of plasma donation links

πŸ›  Tools & Dashboards

Covid relief resources like hospital beds, oxygen, remdesivir, etc. aggregated from multiple sources - keep it on your phone!

View availability of beds, ventilators and other critical Covid infrastructure on a map so you can find one closest to you.

Like CovidTools, this too is a "crowdsourced resources to fight COVID across India. Find oxygen, plasma, hospital beds and more." The site claims to verify listings...

🀚 Volunteers needed

Some of the top startup entrepreneurs and medical associations of India came together as a group to form Project StepOne, to help India manage and solve the COVID 19 pandemic. Volunteers needed across Products, Ops, Data Sciences and more...

Volunteers to help Delhi Govt. manage the process of Covid treatment. Are you available to devote 2-3 hours of your time from 5pm-10pm daily for 30 days?

🧯 Corporate

Let's join hands to provide oxygen to people affected by COVID-19. Support Oxygen for India Initiative by Paytm Foundation

🧿 Some underfunded, lesser-known fundraisers

Our agenda is to mobilise funds to support the mental health needs of COVID-19 frontline workers and relief volunteers by providing free support groups, therapy and access to a helpline to them. We need the funds to pay mental health professionals and build infrastructure

HelpAge India is reaching out to the elders, homeless and migrant workers who are facing their toughest time right now. In our first phase of work, we raised awareness about Covid 19, both in urban & rural areas before the lockdown even started, through our Mobile Healthcare Units & Helpline services.

We hope to give dry rations to about 1000 community members living in the regions of Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram. This will be carried out through our very own transgender community volunteers themselves.

For the last two weeks, a team of young volunteers from Goa Emergency Relief have been working towards providing relief for Covid positive people in Goa - through food, medicines, finding hospitals, testing, oxygen, etc.

πŸ’¬ Join the Open Hour

A lot of anxiety, anger, frustration, helplessness circulating in the Design/Product/tech tribes that we are close to. We can do little to address the root causes - but we can help people connect, have conversations, offer support or just simply listen.

OpenHour allows small group conversations between 5-7 people. No panels, no experts, no speakers, no themes. Just small groups to share what’s on your mind. Unburden, listen, speak. Register via http://bit.ly/ZeOpenHrΒ Every Wed/Sat // Beta mode
