DesignUp ๐Ÿ’œ Issue #100 > DesignUpForACause + ageing/archives/coivd-fightback

"DesignUpForACause is LIVE AID without Bono and Queen" Kay Khoo

Our 100th issue. And wish I could say "I am delighted to share there's a next DesignUp Conference..."

But I can't.

This is a fundraiser DesignUp Conference that should not have happened.

DesignUp has always celebrated the human and humane at the intersection of Design, Tech and Business. It feels like there's nothing to celebrate around us, in India, today.

And yet, #DesignUpForACause is the celebration of resilience and the human spirit.

The spirit that unifies across imaginary lines called borders. Across states, countries, religions, disciplines, specializations, beliefs. It's the people that the world of design, user-experience, branding, research, product, marketing look up to with respect and awe - reaching-out, responding in a heartbeat, and saying: let me help!

Join us, June 11-20, for a virtual conference. It is a little rushed. And It may not be as polished an event that we expect of ourselves. But it does something amazing, that maybe none of our other conferences have done: it provides healthcare, it provides meals, it provides hope. And healing.

Donations are your pass to some amazing, inspiring speakers.

Whether you're looking for inspiration, or looking to help in a cause, join us. https://cause.designup.io

For the 100th issue

It has been 40 years since Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and Jacob Getzels empirically demonstrated the central role of problem framing in creativity. Thinkers from Albert Einstein to Peter Drucker have emphasized the importance of properly diagnosing your problems. So why do organizations still struggle to get it right?

Part of what makes big decisions so significant is how rare they are. You donโ€™t get an opportunity to learn from your mistakes. If you want to make big decisions you wonโ€™t regret, itโ€™s important you learn from others who have been there before.

The world is designed against the elderly, writes Don Norman, the 83-year-old author of the industry bible Design of Everyday Things and a former Apple VP.

Here and now

COVID-19 hasnโ€™t dampened the dedication of many to make the world a better place. Adobe Stock identifies upcoming visual trends in stock imagery.

In response to India's oxygen shortage for critical Covid patients, Kulture Shop along with 50 of their artists, is offering free art to anyone who donates Rs. 5000 ($70) or more to Give India's Oxygen mission. โ‚น5K ($70) = 1 free art print, โ‚น10K ($140) = 2 free art prints and so on. Indian restaurants across the globe are helping to raise money and awareness for India's Covid crisis. The meals are priced to supply 10kg of oxygen, and 100% of the proceeds go to Hemkunt Foundation and Give India Oxygen. Purchase a delicious meal and help raise the $250,000 goal.

Hope to see you at #DesignUpForACause.

Stay safe, and stay inspired,
