Design@SAIF - Issue #20
As we celebrate the 20th issue of the weekly SAIF Design despatches - here are the most clicked links from the past 19 Issues of UxPowerUp. Looking back, this is an interesting diversity of articles as well as an opportunity for those who joined in late to see the reader's favourites...
From Issue 13 > In a world going mobile (and conversational), I cannot but overemphasise the importance of type and content. And this article does a great job of hand-holding us through the evolution of the pixelated letter to some of my favourite terms: hinting, kerningāand some actionable tips. After all, āevery word and letter in an interface matters. Good writing is good design. Text is ultimately interfaceā
From Issue 18 > A long but thoughtful read on the role of process in product development. Lax argues for the need to āhave a set of plays we can go to so we can build better products smarter and faster.ā
From Issue 14 > Crayon claims to be āthe most comprehensive marketing inspiration search engine on the web.ā It curates sites that market products/services and are well sorted by categories, collections, āredesigns-of-the-day and more. You will need to sign up (and its pretty annoying until you do that), but worth it. Plus they have a handy section showing how the site evolved over time.
From Issue 17 > āIf you canāt decide what to do, get on the road. You wonāt find the answer. It will find you.ā
A highly recommended read from the founder of Bonobos. And if your were worried about career risks in the startup worldāhereās a VC friend you can ask.
From Issue 10 > "On October 23, 2006, Brain Pickings was born as an email to my seven colleagues". Nine years and millions of subscribers later, BrainPickings remains a treasure trove of inspiration, delightful connections and more. As our little despatch steps into the 10th issue, I thought its a good time to step back a little, and reflect on the learnings including one from a wise common friend: "everything worthwhile takes time."
And one more...
Bonus link from Issue 12 > Projects spread over a long period are becoming the new norm. A way to practice a specific skillset, flex some creative muscles and keep it social, so youāre much more likely to honour you commitments. Hereās an interesting series to launch you towards your own practice from The Great Discontent Mag.
Until next week,
